The University of Maine Singers
The University of Maine Singers will perform at the Owls Head Transportation Museum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11. The concert, free and open to the public, by the 70-member choir will be one of five free public performances slated for March in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Dennis Cox, UMaine director of choral activities, will lead the ensemble on its annual spring trip, which will also include daytime performances at elementary, middle and high schools.

Several of the singers hail from the midcoast - Sierra Ventura and Sarah Bowen of Belfast, Rosaleen Erwin of Brunswick, Morgan Cates of Camden, Dana Douglass of Phippsburg, Kristen Alberts of South China, Alecia Griffin of Randolph, Greg Kritzman of Topsham, Paige Courtney of Somerville and Sara Phillips of Thorndike.

The tour will also include public performances in Bar Harbor (First Baptist Church, March 10), Saco (First Parish Church of Christ, March 12), Tilton, New Hampshire (Winnisquam Regional High School, March 13), and Newton, Massachusetts (Lasell College, March 14).

Every four years, the Singers perform abroad; in 2012, they sang in Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Auditions are held each fall for the Singers, nearly half of whom pursue majors outside of music. For more information, visit
