Camden Conservation Commission (CCC) has selected Elle Appleton Foster, of Rockport, as the winner of its logo design contest. Foster, who grew up in Camden, bested a field of artists both local and from as far away as Savannah, Georgia, with a design, shown here, “that reflects the Commission’s scope and activities on environmental and conservation issues relating to the Town of Camden.” Foster was awarded a handcrafted birdhouse donated by Once A Tree, a gift certificate for Midcoast Recreation Center, and a year’s membership in Coastal Mountains Land Trust. The CCC carries out the guidelines of the Camden Community Forest Management Plan, sponsors educational talks and walks, and focuses on special projects such as improving water quality in Camden Harbor and protecting natural resources and wildlife.
