Bay Chamber Concerts will present the all-male Argentine dance company Che Malambo at Strom Auditorium, at Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport, on Tuesday, March 28, at 7 p.m., in a show that showcases dramatic footwork, drumming and song inspired by the heritage of the gaucho, the South American cowboy.

“Malambo,” dating from the 17th century, was the name of a traditional competition among gauchos that tested their agility, strength and dexterity. The troupe Che Malambo was created by French director and choreographer Gilles Brinas in 2007 and tours venues around the world.

As part of Bay Chamber’s Community Engagement Program, Che Malambo will be offering two free matinees to schoolchildren in Rockland and Waldoboro.

Tickets to the Strom show are $30, $10 for those under age 25. For tickets, visit www.baychamberconcerts.org or call 236-2823.
