Bar Harbor Comic Con 2017, an all-ages science-fiction and fantasy con (convention) with authors, artists, tabletop and video gamers, cos-play, live music and vendors, will be held on Saturday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel Conference Center, 119 Eden Street (Route 3). The event benefits the project to rebuild the town’s public playground.

Among the large roster of artists and authors slated to attend are Maine writer Barry Longyear, whose stories include “Enemy Mine” (1980 Hugo for Best Novella); O’Chang Comics, creators of “Temp Tales”; and Charles Carter, founder of Maine-based Eagre Games (“Dune,” “Myst,” “Babylon 5”).
The day will include a visit by actress Gigi Edgley, known for her role as Chiana in the television science-fiction series “Farscape.” Edgley is also a comic-book creator.
A replica of KITT, the high-tech car from the cult series “Knight Rider,” will be on loan from Leni Gronros of Rockport, who built the replica of the Knight Industries Two Thousand driven by David Hasselhoff in the TV series that ran from 1982 to 1986.
Bar Harbor Comic Con is being organized by Christopher Schwartz, known locally as “the Bar Harbor Batman.”
Con admission is by suggested donation of $5 per person, $15 per family, with special rates for those who wish to stay at the Atlantic Oceanside; for reservations, call
