Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education is accepting applications for its 200-hour Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course, a daytime class from Tuesdays to Thursdays for nine weeks starting April 4. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
CNAs are in demand locally in long-term care, assisted living, home care and hospitals. Upon successful completion of the course and passage of the State Competency Exam, a student will be eligible to work as a CNA under the direction of a licensed nurse.
Students accepted for the CNA course may also apply to Pen Bay Healthcare’s Apprenticeship “Earn While You Learn” program, in which they will be sponsored and paid to attend class in return for committing to work at Pen Bay long-term care facilities for 18 months after graduation.
Enrollment is limited and application deadline is 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21. For more information or to receive an application, call 596-7752, extension 3.
