Watts Hall Community Players in Thomaston has received a grant of $4,700 from the Maine Community Foundation’s Maine Theater Fund to install an audio system in the Main Street venue. For years the community theater has had no standing audio equipment, instead borrowing gear a week or so before each show.

The grant funds will be combined with profits from last summer’s show, The Music Man, to purchase microphones, loudspeakers, a control board and accessory equipment. The system has been designed by volunteer Chuck McGregor, a retired professional audio engineer. Installation will be completed before this summer’s season.

Profits from this summer will be earmarked for upgrading the theater’s lighting equipment.
