The documentary “Sherpa” will be shown at Camden Opera House on Wednesday, March 22, at 7 p.m. as the next film in the CIFF?Selects series presented by the Opera House and the Points North Institute. The film by award-winning Australian filmmaker Jennifer Peedom has been nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Award (BAFTA) for best documentary feature.

Sherpas, Himalayan natives known for their mountaineering skill, have worked for generations as guides in what has become “the Everest industry.” Peedom decided to make a film of the 2014 Everest climbing season from the Sherpas’ point of view.

“There are films that must be seen on the big screen to truly experience the work,” says Points North Executive Director Ben Fowlie. “‘Sherpa’ is one of those films.” The film is being co-presented by Maine Sport Outfitters.

Tickets, $10, can be purchased on day of show at the Opera House box office. For more information, go to www.camdenoperahouse.com.

CIFF Selects titles are shown on the third Wednesday of each month, except October.
